Yule Ritual And Reflection

On December 21, 2021, in the Northern Hemisphere, is the Winter Solstice. This is the shortest day and longest night of the year. The pagan sabbat celebrated is Yule. This is a time to welcome the light returning, hope, and renewal, as the days of sunlight will get a bit longer each day until the Spring Equinox March 20, 2022.

You can greet the sunrise on this day, as part of your Yule ritual. Your ritual can be done anytime on this day however. The evening is a lovely time on Yule to reflect the sun light returning on the darkest, longest night of the year, as you light candles.

For your ritual choose candles and incense that represent the Yule season for you. You may also want something celebratory to eat and drink after your ritual. You can also wear a festive outfit to add to your Yule celebration.

Invite any Winter Goddesses and Crone Goddesses you feel connected to into your circle, along with your animal spirit guides and ancestors if you wish.

Having a symbol of the sun on your altar helps honor the sun light returning on this Winter Solstice.

Some questions you can reflect on during your Yule ritual in your journal are:

*What am I feeling is being renewed in my life along with the sun this Winter Solstice?

*How do I plan to spend this winter time, as we slowly head to spring?

*Can I use this time for more internal reflection and self connection?

*What am I wanting to work on creatively this winter season?

*How can I slow down and savor the colder, darker months, as the sun slowly returns?

*What way can I connect to hope and renewal in my life now?

*How would I like to work with the Winter and Crone Goddesses this season?

*What has ended in my life? What needs to be released?

*What way am I connecting to death and rebirth life cycles now?

*How can I honor the sun each day?

*How can I embrace the winter darkness and hope for the light?

*What am I tending at my hearth?

Have a beautiful, light filled, blessed Yule!
