Working with Nyx the Greek Goddess of the Night during Samhain Season

Goddess Nyx is the primordial Greek Goddess of the night. She is also a goddess of magic, sleep, dreams, darkness, protection, divination, and death.

Nyx is often depicted as a figure with a black cloak and stars shining out. Sometimes she is shown with wings and pulled by horses in a chariot. Owls are also connected to Nyx. The lunar cycle, especially dark and new moons are connected to her.

As we near Samhain and the dark half of the year, Nyx is a magical, dark goddess we can connect to.

Some ways to work with Goddess Nyx are:

*Reflect on the dark half of year as we approach Samhain with Goddess Nyx. What ways can she help you embrace the darkness and longer nights ahead?

*Do shadow work calling on Nyx for help to explore your unconscious dark shadow sides that need healing.

*Create a drawing, painting, or poem in honor of Nyx, Goddess of Night.

*Create an altar to Nyx with symbols of the night, moonstones, any black crystals, black feathers, horses, owls, stars, moons, and dark colors such as black, dark blue, and purple.

*Connect to death with Nyx as a natural life transition, as we celebrate our beloved dead and ancestors on Samhain. Also reflect on what is dying metaphorically in your life as the autumn leaves fall from the trees with Nyx’s guidance.

*Create a releasing ritual with Nyx, and the theme of death and letting for autumn and Samhain.

*Explore moon magic with Goddess Nyx, especially when you work with dark and new moon energies.
