Autumn Apples and Pumpkin Spice Magic

Today August 23, the sun goes into Virgo, and we head closer to the Autumn season here in the Northern Hemisphere. The days are starting to grow a bit shorter each day, and a few leaves can be seen changing color on trees.

The early apple crops are ready to pick now in late August. Apples symbolize wisdom, abundance, prosperity, love, fertility, sexuality, beauty, and longevity. Work with apple magic, connecting to these energies, while you bake something delicious with this lovely autumnal fruit.

You can also enjoy some hot apple cider with cloves, nutmeg, allpspice, and cinnamon sticks. Stir your cauldron of cider clockwise, imbuing it with any of these magical apple aspects you desire to bring into your life.

If you cut an apple horizontally, you will see a five pointed star of seeds, like the pagan pentacle. This makes apples especially magical for pagans.

Goddesses associated with apples are Pomona, Freya, Idun, Eris, Venus, Athena, Aphrodite, and Hera. Honor any of these goddesses with apples on your altar, and in your kitchen, to connect with the Divine Feminine during Fall apple harvest.

Though local pumpkins become ripe mid September, when the weather cools, pumpkin spice starts off the now. We start to see Pumpkin Spice Lattes at cafes, as Virgo season begins. You can enjoy exploring this creative, magical spice flavor combination by making your own pumpkin spice blend  in your kitchen.

Pumpkin spice is made of a combination of five spices related to fire, so pumpkin spice can be added to any drink or baking you create for the fire element.

The five spices for pumpkin spice are listed here with their magical properties:

*Cinnamon: fire element, divination, focus, psychic abilities, love, prosperity, courage, happiness, empowerment

*Clove: fire element, protection, cleansing, divination, psychic development, love, money

Ginger: fire and earth elements, passion, money, success, abundance, love, confidence, protection, prosperity

Allspice: fire element, energy, luck, money, courage, protection, determination, motivation

Nutmeg: fire element, lucid dreaming, money, love, success, prosperity, psychic abilities

The Pumpkin Spice Recipe I like is:

2 tbsp ground cinnamon

2 tsp ground ginger

1 tsp ground cloves

1 tsp ground allspice

1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

Mix together to use in any baking, especially with apples or pumpkin puree. This pumpkin spice blend is delicious to add to your morning coffee and oatmeal. Pumpkin spice can also be added to hot apple cider.

May the start of Virgo season, as the autumnal harvest begins, be magical, creative, and filled with blessings for you.
